UPDATE: 33RD ANNUAL STAR CHEFS & VINTNERS GALA IS RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2020
We are working hard to care for our clients ensuring that meals are made and delivered to them and that they, along with our staff, are safe. In these difficult times, Meals on Wheels San Francisoc is extremely grateful to have your support and encouragement.
Due to COVID-19, we've had to reschedule our gala for September. This single fundraiser is responsible for nearly $3 million annually which represents 20% of our operating budget and provides funding for 1/5 of all the meals we provide to homebound seniors each year.
As we operate on a fiscal year which ends on June 30 this year, having to push the gala back puts us in a challenging cash flow situation. During this time of crisis, we need funds now to ensure our homebound seniors get the meals that keep them nourished and safe, particularly during the course of this pandemic, for however long that may be.
While we hope to recoup most of the revenue from the Gala in September, we are taking almost a $3 million hit in this fiscal year. Here's how you can help:
There are so many people in need right now, especially in the restaurant, vintner, and hospitality communities. Please do what you can to support them as well -- purchase wine online, order takeout/delivery or purchase gift certificates for future use. And, of course, be there to support them when their doors open again. Please remember that their efforts every year at the Star Chefs & Vintners Gala bring in almost 40% of our fundraising revenue each year.
Together, we can get through this crisis together and ensure no homebound senior is hungry or alone. We are truly bolstered and grateful for your friendship and support.
