Meals on Wheels San Francisco has served the needs of homebound seniors since 1970. In 2019, we began building a bigger, state-of-the-art industrial kitchen and food distribution center to meet the needs of the growing population of food insecure and isolated older adults living in the City. The new facility will allow us to increase our meal production capacity to up to 30,000 meals daily, advance the quality and variety of our meals, and become a source for other organizations with food-based missions to turn to for low-cost, high-quality food.
On November 19, 2020, the vision of this new kitchen became a reality and we were thrilled to officially open The Sangiacomo Flynn Building, home to the Andy and Teri Goodman Nourishing Kitchen, located at 2230 Jerrold Avenue in the Bayview! Scroll below to learn about the features of this new facility that will serve the nutritional needs of homebound seniors for many decades to come.

We are happy to announce that the 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign for our new industrial kitchen and food distribution center is completed!
Thank you for supporting this once-in-a-lifetime campaign either through a donation or purchase of a paver. Your support helped us build (and now open) The Sangiacomo Flynn Building, home to the Andy and Teri Goodman Nourishing Kitchen. This bigger and better kitchen has the capacity to take us through many more decades of providing millions of nutritious home-delivered meals to seniors in need. Thank you for making this dream a reality!
Additionally, we want to recognize and thank Jack Dorsey, #StartSmall, and MacKenzie Scott for their recent and very generous gifts that officially closed the campaign and helped us meet our fundraising goal. #StartSmall is Jack Dorsey’s philanthropic initiative to fund global COVID-19 relief, girls' health and education, and efforts towards Universal Basic Income. Dorsey transferred $1 billion (28% of his wealth) to #StartSmall in 2020.
By finishing this campaign on time, we can now focus our efforts keenly on our core programs, particularly our home-delivered meals and social services operations that are critical to our clients.
