Celebrate this Thanksgiving Day with Meals on Wheels SF Seniors!
Meals on Wheels San Francisco looks forward to Thanksgiving each year, crafting a special experience for both our homebound senior clients and volunteers. While the pandemic has again curtailed our annual, in-person volunteer delivery of Thanksgiving meals, rest assured, more than 4,500 Meals on Wheels recipients will receive a special Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings prepared in our new kitchen and delivered by our staff.
That said, we still need your help to brighten their day!
HELP US BRING A SMILE TO A SENIOR'S FACE (AND YOURS TOO) BY
MAKING HANDMADE THANKSGIVING DAY CARDS
FOLLOW THE 3 EASY STEPS BELOW AND BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN A
HOMEMADE PUMPKIN PIE OR A LOCALLY-SOURCED HOLIDAY GIFT BASKET OF GOODIES
Now through November 22, we are asking YOU, our talented community of volunteers, supporters, and colleagues, to help craft 4,500 Thanksgiving greeting cards wishing our senior friends well as we enter the holiday season. Your thoughtful cards truly do put smiles on faces, during the holidays, which for some, can be a lonely time.
Winner, Winner Turkey Dinner (well, pie anyway!)
This year, the most creative entries will be chosen every “Turkey Tuesday” starting November 2nd. Watch for it! Our very own Tim Turkey* will pick the winner, who will receive a signature homemade pie made by our culinary team at Meals on Wheels San Francisco. Additionally, all card entries will be automatically entered to win our grand prize – a locally sourced and holiday-themed goodies basket.
To begin -- follow these three steps!
Step 1: Download the card guidelines on how to craft and send in your special greeting. Instructions on where to send the cards are included.
We’ll collect all cards and begin distributing them to our Meals on Wheels recipients during our Thanksgiving meals delivery beginning the week of November 22. So don’t delay—get your cards in soon!
Step 2: Check here to see if you won!
And don’t forget to return to our website, (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter too) each Tuesday during the month of November to watch Tim Turkey* choose his winner for the week and to see a list of winners! (We’ll post the time for each live drawing here.)
Winners will also be notified by email** as well as entered into the grand prize goodie basket drawing that will take place Tuesday, November, 23.
Also, “Thankful Thursdays” will start November 4th where we thank many of our donors, volunteers, community partners, and clients that we are so thankful for all year round.
Step 3: Check to see if your workplace matches volunteer hours with gifts
Did you know that your card-making activity could bring invaluable donations to our organization? Many companies match volunteer hours with corporate cash contributions. Visit www.doublethedonation.com/mowsf to find out if your company has a program.
* Who is Tim Turkey? Tim Quaintance, one of MOWSF's chefs and formerly with famed SF Restaurant, Boulevard, has graciously agreed (with a little wing twisting) to transform himself into the MOWSF poultry king. Thank YOU, TIM!
** MOWSF staff will contact all pie winners to arrange delivery
